Upon clicking on this link, users are directed to a webpage displaying the table of contents for Tracking Healthy People 2010 (Revised) - an updated version of the original Tracking Healthy People 2010 reference document published by the National Center for Health Statistics in November 2000.

Users can access the information contained in each of the four sections of Tracking Healthy People 2010 (Revised):

General Data Issues - This section discusses the major statistical issues affecting the computation of data for the Healthy People 2010 objectives. Also provides information on the methods used to evaluate progress toward the initiative's goals and targets at the Midcourse Review.

Detailed Definition for Each Objective - This section presents definitions for each of the Healthy People 2010 objectives. Definitions include information on the numerator and denominator of the measure, data source, questions used to generate the data, type of statistic, the baseline and 2010 target values, and expected periodicity of tracking data. Definitions are updated quarterly.

Major Data Sources for Healthy People 2010 - This section describes the twenty-one major data systems used to track the Healthy People 2010 objectives. A major data system is defined as a system that produces data for five or more complete Healthy People 2010 objectives or ten or more Healthy People 2010 subobjectives.

Additional Resources - This section includes a variety of additional information pertinent to tracking the Healthy People 2010 including contact information for the NCHS Statistical liaison for each focus area; International Classification of Diseases (ICD) mortality and morbidity codes used for Healthy People 2010 objectives; and the Healthy People 2010 Leading Health Indicators.
