Objective specifications provide detailed information about how each objective
statistic is produced.
The purpose of these definitions is to provide
persons the necessary technical information so that statistics for national
populations can be reproduced. Comparable statistics for other
populations can then be calculated.
Once you have selected a focus area, click on the "Read objective specification
information now" button. You will then be transferred to the FTP
directory which contains the individual objective specification files for each
measure. You may then click on individual files to view the
objective specifications.
Please note that 'Leading Health Indicators' are a special collection of measures from
the standard 28 focus areas, rather than an actual focus area. Please access the operational
definitions from the standard focus areas to see information about specific
measures in these special areas.
