Environmental Data
Produced by the NASA Applied Sciences Program / Public Health Program and partners:
- Daily Air Temperatures and Heat Index (1979-2011) from North America Land Data Assimilation System (NLDAS)
Data Request More information - Fine Particulate Matter (PM2.5) (µg/m³) (2003-2011)
Data Request More information - Land Surface Temperature (LST) (2003-2008) from Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS)
Data Request More information - Daily Sunlight (KJ/m²) (1979-2011) from North America Land Data Assimilation System (NLDAS)
Data Request More information - Daily Precipitation (mm) (1979-2011) from North America Land Data Assimilation System (NLDAS)
Data Request More information - Number of Heat Wave Days in May-September (1981-2010)

The environmental data available on CDC WONDER are county-level daily measures of air temperature (degree days), heat index, land surface temperature, outdoor air quality (fine particulate matter) and sunlight (insolation or solar irradiation). Data are available by place (combined 48 conterminous United States, region, division, state, county), time (year, month, day) and specified measure value. This work was part of a collaborative study funded by the NASA Applied Sciences Program/Public Health Program (grant# NNX09AV81G).
